Monitored applications

The Monitored applications view is essentially a list of the applications you wish to watch. Each time there is a change to the European Patent Register concerning one of these applications, you will receive a Register Alert notification.

Monitoring and notifications

You can monitor up to 1 000 files per account. To monitor more than 1 000 files, simply create an additional account. You can set up numerous accounts with the same email address.

Notifications can be sent to a maximum of five email addresses per account, i.e. the one used to set up the account plus four others. To add additional recipients, go to the Notifications tab under Preferences.

In the Monitored applications view you can add, edit, import, export, print and delete files, and mark them as seen or unseen. You can also click on Preferences for additional ways to display your monitored applications.

Viewing applications

To view an application, click on its title in your list. By right-clicking the title, you can bookmark the link to the application.

Managing your list of applications

Adding applications

When you are logged in to your account, click the tab Monitored applications (to the right of the Advanced search tab). Once you are in the main screen of Monitored applications, you will see a horizontal toolbar allowing you to perform several operations. To add an application to your list, click Add.

Adding and editing references and descriptions

You can add a reference and description to any application in your list. Use the Reference field to enter the application's reference in your own internal numbering system (maximum of 25 characters). The Description field is for your own personal notes or comments on the application (maximum of 100 characters).

To edit a reference or description, first select the file by clicking the checkbox to the left of the title. Then click Edit and change the text.

Sorting monitored applications

With the Sort by and Sort order drop-down menus, you can sort your list of monitored applications by Seen, Appl./Publ. No., Appl. No., Date of change, Reference and Description in ascending or descending order.

Marking as seen or unseen

This function shows you which of your monitored applications has/have been changed. The system automatically marks a changed file as Unseen and highlights it with a black dot. You can display all unseen applications in your monitored list by selecting Changed in the Monitored/Changed drop-down menu and then clicking Search.

Deleting monitored applications

To delete an application from your list, select the item by clicking the checkbox to the left of its title and then clicking Delete.

Importing and exporting your applications list

Importing and exporting lists saves you having to add applications manually from/to your other Register Alert accounts.

Your lists are always imported and exported as <a href="" target="_blank">CSV</a> files.

Adding to your monitored applications list from an external file (importing)

Start by viewing your list (you need to be logged into your account). Click Import, and then follow the system prompts to import your file (CSV format only). Please note that the maximum file size allowed is 100 KB.

Backing up your list of monitored applications (exporting)

Start by clicking Export. Then simply follow the system prompts to save the file.

Please note: the system default delimiter is a comma but you can change it to a semi colon (;) in the Preferences panel.

Exported files

The system delivers a compressed CSV file in ZIP format displaying the fields in the following order: number, appnumber, pubnumber, reference, description, seen.

The number field displays the application or publication number you used when adding the application to your list originally.

The reference and description fields contain any notes made by you on applications in your list.

Please note: international accent marks and diacritics used in these fields will not accurately export and import in your CSV files. If the file appears in your Changed applications list, the value 'false' is displayed in the seen field; if not, the value 'true' is displayed.
