Misleading Register Alert event notification on 15.04.19

Following a clean-up exercise of event information regarding (previously) revoked patents, that were later reinstated, some existing revocation events ("Despatch of communication that patent is revoked") were duplicated on 15.04.2019.

Why does one and the same legal event/entry refer to different dates?

The different dates on the left refer to various types of corrections or amendments which occurred during a particular phase. These legal events/entries could be e.g. the addition of a European representative, a title in another language or the date of receipt of the application at the EPO, or the payment of certain fees.


What do the digits in square brackets refer to?

The digits in square brackets refer to the issue of the European Patent Bulletin (e.g. week 35 of year 1988) in which the relevant information was published. The date preceding the digits (e.g. 31.08.1988) refers to the actual date of publication.


What are validation states?

Validation states are countries that are non-member states which have validation agreements with the EPO, allowing applicants to request the validation of a European patent to these countries.


What are extension states?

Extension states are countries that are non-- member states which have extension agreements with the EPO, allowing applicants to request the extension of a European patent or patent application to these countries.
